Africa is still the number one destination for photographing big game wildlife. And Kenya's Maasai Mara is at the top of the list.

Canada Hudson Bay February 2024

There is only one word for this trip.... COLD!

Unfortunately, my health has had its ups and downs and for this trip it was closer to the bottom end than the top. Add to that the environment where the outside Temperatures often at times dipped below -40 degrees F. and well it was a challenging trip for me personally. Also the main goal for this trip (new born polar bear cubs) was not achieved through circumstances and my health and perhaps bad luck. But there were also a number of firsts for me. A Wolverine close up! A Wolf Pack close up! The Northern Lights being timid at first but waiting for the final night to put on a crescendo display!

Finally there was a lot of howling going on!

Polar Bears on Alaska's North Shore. Oct 2018

A trip to the North Shore of Alaska takes close to the ends of the earth.  The month is October and the weather is cold and only getting colder.  The bays are starting to ice over and the Polar bears are waiting for the Beaufort Sea to do the same.  I arrive at Barter Island which is also the home to Kaktovik, which is a small Inupiat eskimo settlement.

Texas Gulf Coast - Birds - Mar 2020

Texas Gulf Coast
     & a couple endangered birds

My trip to the Texas Gulf coast was a journey to primarily see two of the most endangered species in North America. The Whooping Crane and the Attwater Prairie Chicken. These two in particular have almost gone extinct and were on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Endangered Red list and are considered at the top of the list of the most endangered birds of North America. Whooping Cranes numbers dropped as low as 21 in the wild and only 2 captives.

Bosque Del Apache - Dec 2019

Bosque Del Apache - Dec 2019

A pictorial review of my Dec 2019 trip to Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico. This area abounds in birds and other species. I really enjoyed the Kestrels this year as they are so colorful and quick. They are really hard to photograph in flight.

I've been a scuba diver since I was 16 years old, and that's too many years for me to say.
